What is Manual Therapy?

Manual Therapy is a system of evaluation and treatment of neuro-muscular-skeletal problems. It consists in a manual form of treating a dysfunction in the aforementioned system, in which the dysfunction has physical consequences and can cause pain and problems with mobility.

Manual Therapy uses the following principal techniques:

  • Mobilization
  • Manipulation
  • Traction
  • Stretching
  • Etc.

As a complimentary form of treatment, mechanical therapy can also be used if considered necessary or beneficial.

For which problems does Manual Therapy work?
  • Dysfunctions in the joints
  • Dysfunctions in structures located near the joints
  • Dysfunctions in the muscular system
  • Dysfunctions in the peripheral nervous system
  • A combination of the above

One additional advantage of this type of therapy is that it can treat specific problems in the spinal column insofar as it evaluates and intervenes even in the small joints that exist between vertebras.
